Curiositas - An amusing exploration of unusual objects
Overview
The Curiositas is relaxed entertainment which involves all the participants in an animated discussion and creates an enjoyable and positive atmosphere.
The activity presents a collection of diverse objects from the intriguing to the frankly bizarre. Simple questions like age, value and use of the object will set off lively debates.
The activity
The first part takes place during pre-dinner drinks and between the courses of the meal. The curiosities are displayed on numbered stands around the room, so that the teams can observe them at leisure.
The objective of this phase is to come to a consensus of opinion, as a team, on the age, value and use of each article. The participants are encouraged to handle them to give them a better idea as to what they could be.
After a final discussion over coffee, the activity enters 'phase two'. Everyone thinks they have found the answers, unless, of course, someone persuades them otherwise.
Each team receives a written description with the attributed age, value and use. Their next challenge is to create and present two plausible alternatives to the real description with a view to influencing the decisions of the other teams. Frenzied discussions entail as well as lots of fun when the fictive descriptions are presented by the teams.
Finally, the facilitators reveal the real identities, ages and values of each object, to cries of excitement and surprise from the audience.
