Flat Out

Overview

In this very original challenge, the teams have to build a vehicle out of cardboard (a rickshaw, mini-moke, tank or boat) working from a plan with precise specifications. The teams are encouraged to progress together in this innovative activity that requires creativity as much as communication...

The Activity

Each member of the team completes his assigned task in the construction process before it is finally assembled. As with any construction project, success comes from a coordinated team effort, effective communication as well as a good dose of imagination and creativity.

 

The teams then decorate and add their personal touch to their vehicle through their own original, colourful graphic designs or the colours of the company, using the limited resources available (felt tips, paints...).

For the ultimate part of the challenge there's a race, or in the case of a boat a sea crossing (or a calm lake, or swimming pool...). Basically, it's a lot easier said than done as the teams have to pass various tests during the challenge before they can celebrate victory !

Depending on the location, there are a variety of options available for teams to "start" their vehicles on sand, grass, tarmac and even the carpet of your conference hall !

The originality of the activity not only creates fun and excitement but also addresses precise professional and pedagogical objectives such as project management, new product launches and team work. In fact, the concept can be adapted to suit your specific objectives and requirements.

 

In a nutshell, Flat Out is a really memorable way to encourage team building in an enjoyable and dynamic atmosphere whilst simultaneously developping positive competition !
