Understanding the company
Overview
The Managers gives the participants an opportunity to experience the everyday reality of a corporate manager, and reveals the economic and financial tools at his disposal.
The teams' objective is to ensure company growth. They must come up with a strategy and a financial plan that are adapted to the market !
Will the participants have the necessary resources ?
How will their decisions effect the treasury ?
Do they know the keys factors of their company's profitability ?
Activity
You are a company's team of directors. The simulated flows are :
- Production : purchase of raw materials, production, packaging and stocking.
- Sales : define retail price, submit proposals on the market, secure orders.
- Finance : pay suppliers, secure loans, pay expenses, obtain client payment.
The act of taking these flows into consideration not only illustrates the dynamics of a company but demonstrates the mechanisms of creating value. You execute the main accounting operations (operating statement, balance sheet, financial ratios, possibility of loans...). You must present your company's results to its shareholders, using the appropriate language, and present its future perspectives.
Objectives
- Understand the fundamental terms and mechanisms of creating value and the basis of treasury management,
- Identify the economic and strategic factors linked to profit-making,
- Visualise what constitutes a sales margin and understand how to defend it,
- Understand the principals of judicious investment.
