Ice Breakers

Take away my people and leave the factories,
and soon there will be grass growing on the factory floors,
but take away my factories and leave my people,
and soon we will have bigger and better factories.

Andrew Carnegie.

Ice Breakers are used to create a relaxed environment and serve as an opportunity for colleagues to know and relate to each other better. They can be easily integrated into your seminars, training programmes, conventions,...

They are also appropriate activites for improving interactions, stimulating creativity, illustrating new concepts, making participants aware of certain situations, revitalising teams, relieving tension and stress, and more.

Note! These workshops are not simply time-fillers!

There are a huge variety of Ice Breakers.
We have organised them into 6 categories :

  • Energisers and tension relievers,
  • Feedback and revelation,
  • Games and reflection,
  • Obtaining and informing,
  • Opening and closing,
  • Development of professional subjects.

Each game is optimised according to the number of participants, the required material, the necessary or imposed space or time.

They are overseen by a coach who will give his initial thoughts and observations on the completed activity.

Ice Breakers create an atmosphere that reduces the attendees' inhibitions and encourages their participation in a fun but instructive climate. The majority of activities provide an opportunity to let off steam, to freely express ideas and feelings and to considerably improve team work. The most popular activities are those which reveal each one's personality and help people to get to know each other better whilst generating cohesion and trust.

We offer a whole series of 5 to 30 minute games which can be played at the beginning, during or at the end of your seminars or conventions. We select them with you beforehand according to your objectives, your schedule and the time allowed. For example, an Ice Breaker of 1/2 an hour is appropriate for a day-long seminar, whilst for an hour long meeting, it will last just a minute or two !

An example from amongst hundreds :

Desert island (groups of 5 to 6)

You are stranded on an island. What 5 articles would you wish to have with you ?
Note that you are allowed 5 articles per team (not per person). Participants can defend their choice using a paper board or conference board and through debate with their group. This activity helps them to be informed about other values and models for problem solving and encourages team work.
